Dylan Fransway
September 25, 1984 – July 17, 2016
Dylan Hansen Fransway, beloved by his family, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, July 17th, at his childhood home in Lee, New Hampshire. He was 31.
Dylan was a Lee boy. For the first 29 years of his life he lived within 20 miles of his birthplace. At 15, Dylan met Morrigan Browne and they were instant friends. Years later, their friendship would turn to love, marriage and two baby boys.
Dylan almost flunked out of Oyster River High but found his academic footing at McIntosh College in Dover. With the unwavering support and encouragement of his mother, he went on to earn three degrees from the University of New Hampshire: Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, both summa cum laude, and a Masters in Computer Science. He worked for Kiva Systems, a robotics company, until Google offered him a job in California. With a second son and a homesick wife, he recently relocated back to Stoneham, Massachusetts, to work in Google’s Cambridge office on their search engine.
Dylan was self-motivated, forging his own unconventional path and always true to himself. He loved working with his hands, making furniture and working on the needy houses his wife insisted on buying. It all started with tending horses and building fences with his father and brother. Creating with his sons was especially important and he made the most amazing Lego vehicles, complete with their own garages. His analytical mind was drawn to coding and KenKen, passions he pursued with his stepfather and stepbrother. He was the family’s one man IT department. He inherited his inquisitiveness and artistic soul from his mother. Dylan loved the quiet mists and green mossy forests of Campobello Island. He loved Goose Pond and being in Chatham with his family, but never the beach – too hot and too many people.
He is survived by his wife, Morrigan Browne, and their two sons, Oren and John; his mother, Jill Nooney, and stepfather, Bob Munger; his brothers, Spencer Fransway and Rob Munger, his sisters-in-law, Alexandra Fransway and Jennifer Strong; his three sisters, Maron and Raina Levesque, Alana Dust and brother-in-law Alan Dust; his stepmother, Debra Fransway; his aunt, Jacquelyn Nooney and cousin Hannah Nooney; his mother-in-law, Meredith Browne and his grandmother-in-law Gillian Adams. He was predeceased by his father, John Fransway.
Dylan was calm, steady and rock solid. We all want him back for his grace, gentle soul and wisdom.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to help support Dylan's wife and sons – the Dylan Fransway Memorial fund at TD Bank or through Paypal at the button below.
